Take A Honeymoon Later To Save

Are you assuming that your honeymoon vacation begins the day after your wedding? A lot of people assume that it does, and they make plans to take off for that exotic resort early the day after they take their vows. But there is a new trend developing among newlyweds these days when the honeymoon trip is planned for some time down the road, whether it’s weeks or months after the actual wedding. Why are couples doing this, and what’s the point of it?

For one thing, it’s more common for couples to have dated for years and to have even lived together before getting married. This means that they don’t need to have a honeymoon vacation in order to adjust to being under the same roof, the way they did a few generations ago. When you’ve been with someone for three, four, five or more years, or are already living together, taking that traditional trip right after the wedding may not even seem necessary. This doesn’t mean that one need to be married on Saturday and then return to work on Monday as if nothing special happened over the weekend; it’s not a bad idea to at least take a long weekend or a day off of work and to plan something special to do together as a couple as a sort of mini honeymoon so that the wedding day seems all the more special. You can stay at a local hotel to get out of the house, or at least plan on going somewhere special during the day so that you really feel as if you’re on a true honeymoon and that it’s a special time, not just any other long weekend. So, take you time when deciding on where to honeymoon.
